Loan-to-Value Ratio (LTV)

Definition

A financial term used by lenders to express the ratio of a loan to the value of an asset purchased.

Use Case

A mortgage lender calculates the LTV to determine the risk level of the loan. It is calculated by dividing the loan amount by the appraised value of the property.
